TAG Heuer recently collaborated with digital magazine HODINKEE on a watch. It is no surprise that the two choose to do a collab. HODINKEE is the online source for those who love wristwatches. They have been especially vocal about their love for 1960s chronograph design, which perfectly describes the new watch. The TAG Heuer Limited Edition Carrera Skipper for HODINKEE was inspired by the rare Carrera Skipper 7754. This watch was released to celebrate America’s Cup more than 50 years ago. There were only 20 ever made, and they are very hard to find. There was even a long-running dispute over whether or not they were even real.
A modern take on the original 7754, the HODINKEE X TAG Heuer Skipper features several elements similar to the 1960s version. It features a 39mm case with the same lugs as the original. It also has the same tricolour layout.
Several things were updated on the new collaboration including the movement. The HODINKEE X TAG Heuer collab features a Calibre 18 movement. This movement allows for the addition of a date window that is set opposite the countdown. Other changes include a dark blue dial, blue perforated leather strap and orange and grey NATO straps perfect for casual wear.
The HODINKEE X TAG Heuer Skipper will be limited to just 125 pieces. Each piece will be individually numbered. With the limited number available, this watch will sell out quickly. So, if you are suffering from serious desire, you better get moving before it’s too late.
