To celebrate its extended partnership with the International Cricket Council, Hublot has created the Classic Fusion Chronograph “The Ashes” edition, as seen on the wrist of former Australian Captain Michael Clarke.
During an exclusive event held at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground, Hublot and Clarke detailed the timepiece and its unique features including distinct symbols associated with cricket. The two watch hands are designed in the shape of cricket bats and at 12 o’ clock is a triple applique referring to the stumps. The sapphire glass caseback also bears the Ashes emblem.
The grey casing and dial reference the official colour of the Ashes while the calfskin watch strap is stitched with triple white saddle stitching to emulate the stitching of a cricket ball. It’s a cricket-loving horologists dream come true.
The Classic Fusion Chronograph “The Ashes” edition is limited to just 32 examples, referring to the number of series won by each team. The watches’ exclusivity can also be seen in its price. The Ashes wristwatch will set you back $16,200.
Hublot was the first luxury brand to partner with the ICC and recently extended its long-term partnership covering all events through to 2020. This includes the ICC Champion’s Trophy and the Women’s World Cup both taking place this year.
The 2017-18 Ashes Series commences 23rd November. Michael Clarke will be present as a commentator. Outside of cricket, you can also find a Hublot donning the wrists of Usain Bolt and boxing champ Floyd Mayweather.
