“We are thrilled with our first collaboration with IWC Schaffhausen in a 41-millimetre case and powered by the IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre chronograph movement,” said Fiona Firth, the managing director for MR PORTER. “This robust, reliable and precise chronograph movement in a classic column-wheel design is one of the latest developments by IWC’s engineers. A bi-directional pawl winding system reliably builds up a power reserve of 46 hours. USEN, created to mark MR PORTER’s 10th Anniversary this year. The end goal was to create a functional and easy to wear timepiece, stylish addition to any outfit, which the teams have certainly achieved with this limited edition pilots watch.”
The watch makes special note of its celebratory purpose with the number “10” being painted in Super-Luminova on the dial. The other numerals are done in a gold-tone, complementing the warmth created by the 41mm bronze case. The bronze is an alloy that contains both zinc and aluminium, as well as copper and tin, for better surface hardness and increased scratch resistance, not to mention a higher bio-compatibility. The hands have a white inlay that is also luminous.
There is a day and date window at 3 o’clock on the black dial. The titanium case-back bears the engraving, “MR PORTER 10 Yrs Limited Edition” along with an individual number. The watch comes on a black Alcantara suede strap with a bronze pin buckle. The watch is water-resistant up to 60m.
“As well as demonstrating their excellent taste with a carefully chosen wardrobe, discerning men punctuate their innate sense of style with a serious mechanical wristwatch,” says Christoph Grainger-Herr, the CEO of IWC Schaffhausen. “The partnership between MR PORTER and IWC Schaffhausen is so successful because we can offer both in one place. Everyone at IWC extends their warmest congratulations to our partner on its 10th anniversary and is looking forward to our continued collaboration.”
