Swiss watchmaker Longines channelling its roots with a new range. Dubbed Longines 1832, the latest collection of luxury timepieces is a celebration of heritage and a tribute to the year that the label was founded.
The Longines 1832 collection is defined by its elegant matte black dial. The dark tone is said to embody the watchmaker’s expertise and classic elegance, and will be available on four of the existing timepieces: the 30mm and 40mm three-hand pieces, an annual calendar model and a moon phase variant. No matter which model you prefer, the sleek matte black face will let you and any watch connoisseur know that it’s part of the 1832 collection.
Each watch in the collection features polished silvered hands treated in Super-LumiNova for reading in the dark. The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass possesses an anti-reflective coating, and the casebacks are also transparent, revealing the movement within. Water-resistance comes in at up to 30 metres, not that you would want to go swimming or diving while wearing a watch this elegant. To top it all off, the choice of a beige or black alligator leather strap adds a touch of classic cool.
For the first time, Longines will also be offering a mother-of-pearl dial designed as the women’s option within the 1832 collection. This model features a 30mm diameter mounted on a beige leather strap with diamond indexes that Longines says gives the timepiece a delicate look.
Based in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, Longines continues its trend of watchmaking with pieces steeped in tradition, elegance and, of course, performance. The Longines 1832 collection looks to be no exception, and the addition of the women’s mother-of-pearl model means the collection now has a broader appeal.
