Last year, Swiss watchmaker RJ-Romain Jerome unveiled the must-have watch for serious Pokémon fans—a $20,000 USD Pikachu watch. They have decided to outdo themselves with another collab to honour 20 years of Pokémon. This time they teamed up for a Tourbillon Pokémon watch.
The limited edition piece will feature a wildly colourful dial that has all standard Pokémon characters, including Charizard, Pikachu and Spork highlighted in 3D on the hand-made enamel dial. The placement and composition of the characters were created to recognise the uniqueness of the famous characters. A captivating 3D effect was used to make it appear that the characters are animated on the watch. The colourful dial is complemented perfectly by an all-black 48mm case and hands.
Pikachu forms the centrepiece at the forefront of the watch. Lasers were used to shape the oscillating weight of the tourbillon so that it looks like Pikachu when seen through the case back. The tourbillon bridge is shaped like a lightning bolt as a reference to one of the character’s key attack moves.
The Tourbillon Pokémon Watch has a power reserve of 60 hours, a PVD coated steel case and is waterproof to 50 metres.
The watch sports a black alligator strap with yellow and blue stitching, which gives the nod to the Pokémon logo’s symbolic colours. If you are the ultimate Pokémon fan and want to get your hands on this watch, you will have to have some serious cash—it will cost $258,000.
