Seiko Prospex Street Series Goes on Urban Safari
Seiko has announced a fleet of new timepieces joining its Prospex collection. The Japanese watchmaker designed the new Prospex Street Series as the ideal accessories for sports lovers and adventure seekers. Inspired by the original 1975 Seiko diver’s watch, the new pieces feature the same outer protector in a more compact size suitable for urban travelling. Hence the name Street Series. The addition of greens and browns to the colour palette is being described as “urban safari.”

Each of the seven new models features that iconic outer shell and a distinct bezel. The dial has a screw-down crown and screw case back. Lumibrite is used on the hands, indexes and bezel to ensure you can always find your way no matter what time of the day. A leather pattern process creates the accordion-style silicone strap resulting in a design that you won’t forget anytime soon.
When it comes to functions and movement, each new Seiko Prospex watch is different. The above watch, for example, is the SNE547P1. It operates the V157 movement that lasts around ten months between charges. It offers hours, minutes and seconds with a date function at 4 o’clock. It’s also water-resistant to a depth of 200 meters.
The watch below is the SNJ031P1, and it has a case made from stainless steel. This particular watch offers more digital functions including an alarm, battery life warning, Chronograph up to 100 hours, LED lighting and a full-date calendar above 12 o’clock. This Seiko Prospex is also water-resistant to 200 meters.
The seven new styles join a range that’s now 11 watches in total, meaning there’s something for every diver and urban traveller, you just need to decide which suits your style and needs. The new Seiko Prospex Street Series watches are available now priced between $675 AUD and $860 each.
