TAG Heuer Celebrates 160 Years with a Carrera Montreal Re-Edition
Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer is celebrating 160 years of crafting luxury timepieces with a new limited edition Carrera inspired by the brand’s distinctive 1972 Montreal timepiece. The TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition features a vintage design paired with modern technology for the best of both worlds.
“Montreal” was the name of a collection of Heuer automatic chronographs that launched back in 1972. Now, the Montreal design makes a striking comeback as an elegant and sporty 39mm Carrera that is limited to 1,000 examples.

“The Heritage Department selected the white Montreal design to mark TAG Heuer’s anniversary year because the piece is pure beauty and the colourful dial is full of joy,” says Catherine Eberle-Devaux, the Heritage Director at TAG Heuer.
“We played with the existing design codes and brought them to life in a bold new way, merging them with the Carrera spirit and breaking the rules in true TAG Heuer fashion.”
For the anniversary model, TAG Heuer borrowed the red, yellow and blue colour palette of the original White Heuer Montreal. The colours merge around a dial that features three blue “azurage” counters, hours and minutes hands coloured with yellow Super-LumiNova and a central seconds hand in a distinct, bold red. The dial is protected by a domed “glassbox” sapphire crystal which complements the polished stainless-steel case.
The Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition is powered by the Calibre Heuer 02 movement which allows for thinner case design. The vertical clutch feature is said to improve the precision of the start-stop functions while the column wheel welcomes more accurate timekeeping. Power reserve comes in at an impressive 80 hours.
The anniversary piece is paired with a blue alligator leather strap that reflects the blue on the dial. The unique limited-edition numbering of each piece is engraved on the case back, where the Calibre Heuer 02 and its dedicated oscillating mass are visible through sapphire crystal.
The TAG Heuer Carrera 160 Years Montreal Limited Edition comes packaged in a special box and will be available exclusively in boutiques and online for select countries from July 2020. There’s currently no word on pricing or exactly which countries, so keep an eye on the official website that’s linked below.
