The James Brand has carved out a niche for themselves in today’s marketplace by creating useful tools and interesting gear. Now they’re entering the horological world through a collaboration with Timex. The new The James Brand x Timex Expedition North falls right in line with The James Brand’s commitment to utilitarianism, as well as aligning with Timex’s reputation for solid and reliable performance.
Limited to just 500 pieces, The James Brand x Timex Expedition North is an automatic watch that was designed by the Portland-based toolmaker. The watch measures 41mm and is made with quality materials, switching out Timex’s usual stainless steel for brushed titanium alloy.
The new material makes the watch lighter and stronger, and it provides an extra boost of corrosion resistance. Inside the case is a Miyota 8215 movement (you can get a glimpse of the movement through the open caseback). The dial is co-branded and done in black and white with the indices being coated in C3 Super-LumiNova. The dial features a 24-hour design and has a date window at 3 o’clock (or 1500 hours).
The watch comes on a black NATO strap, which also means that you can swap out that strap for any other NATO strap. And that’s about it. But what would you expect from The James Brand. The watch features all the essentials that you would need from a timepiece to be useful. It tells you the date and time, and it’s built solidly enough to take a beating. But don’t worry. It’s also a handsome affair that will go well with any attire you’re wearing. You may especially appreciate the pop of lime green on the crown.
Priced at $349, The James Brand x Timex Expedition North watch became available for purchase on October 5, but don’t expect to get your hands on this one. The ultra-limited piece has already sold out. Given how useful it is, it’s no surprise.
