Back in 2017, Timex released a mechanical watch based on a piece from their archives that was met with a great deal of success. Watch lovers—and plenty of others—grabbed up the Timex Marlin, and Timex took notice. They rode the wave of popularity, releasing several variants, from a black-dialled version to versions that were larger cased and automatic.
Timex is keeping the wave going, releasing a Marlin in conjunction with menswear designer Todd Snyder. This time the mechanical watch is coming in olive and brown.
The Todd Snyder x Timex Marlin in olive and brown makes use of the traditional specs starting with the 34mm diameter. A Chinese mechanical movement is used along with an acrylic crystal. It also has 30-metre water resistance. The differences start with the looks. There’s still the familiar ‘60s style, of course.
The face, however, is sporting a sunburst green that has been labelled as olive but seems a bit more rich, especially when contrasted with the gold-tone numerals and case (which is made of stainless steel). The wrist band is faux croc and is as deeply brown as the face is deeply green. It’s a classic and conservative look that will fit right in whether you’re in a casual business meeting or out on the greens.
If olive and brown aren’t your thing, Todd Snyder also offers the Timex Marlin in other combinations, including a black and white, a blacked out, and silver with a mesh band. And if you want something slightly bigger, you can opt for the automatic version, which measures in at 40mm. All the watches are available in the Todd Snyder online store and are reasonably priced. You can pick up the regular versions for USD$199. The Silver will cost you USD$209, and the automatic comes in at USD$249.
