The Fiftysix collection from Vacheron Constantin distils retro-contemporary style into an elegant masculine watch that’s designed to be worn in any circumstance. Although you may disagree when you see the price tag.
The Fiftysix watches are modern interpretations of Vacheron Constantin’s iconic reference 6073, launched in 1956 and inspired by the Maltese cross. For the first time, Geneva’s oldest watchmaker still in operation is offering a classic collection in both gold and steel.
The Fiftysix self-winding is supported by a 48-hour power reserve, while the Fiftysix Day Date and Fiftysix Complete Calendar have a 40-hour power reserve, all with a 22-carat gold open-worked oscillating weight fitted with a ceramic ball bearing rotation system that requires no lubrication. The weight and movement can be admired through the sapphire crystal caseback.
Gold Arabic numerals enrich the dial while the presence of two subtle tones on the surface gives it depth and a stronger personality. An alligator leather strap is secured by a polished half Maltese cross shaped from a steel or gold buckle depending on the version.
There are seven Fiftysix models available with prices starting at $17k and working up to $53k. That’s why the watches might not be suitable for all situations.
To coincide with the new collection, Vacheron Constantin has launched the “One of Not Many” campaign partnering with passionate artists whose work embodies innovation and creativity. The artists include multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Clementine, songwriter James Bay, designer Ora Ito and seasoned photographer Cory Richards.
As Laurent Perves, Chief Marketing Officer of the Maison points out: “The worlds in which these talents are active – music, design, exploration and photography – are legitimate and relevant territories in which Vacheron Constantin has long since been present. What is most important in their work and in ours is transcending objects to generate emotion.”
“This is the first stage in a broader project involving creative cooperation with each of these talents, and others to come.” The Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix collection watches are available now.
