Introducing the Head-Turning, Jaw-Dropping Wolkov W22

In Partnership with Wolkov

Here at Man of Many, we’re serious about watches, sharing a genuine love and fascination for timepieces of all shapes and sizes. Having said that, it’s rare to come across something that really stands out from the pack. Enter Wolkov Watches, an exciting brand that’s been around for a few years, but is now ready to make its biggest splash yet with the Swiss-powered W22 range.

This extremely limited edition collection will arrive packing the robust Sellita SW200 movement and consist of just 750 pieces in total. But don’t worry, you can secure one for your wrist if you sign up via the Wolkov website or the brand’s Kickstarter campaign – those who do will undoubtedly be getting a lot of bang for their buck.

Different by Design

Thanks to a design that’s built around an unconventional oblong shape and includes the brand’s patented and eye-catching snapping lug system, Wolkov’s new range redefines what it means to be a “conversation starter.” The brand’s design philosophy dictates that its products must be visually striking and instantly memorable; they should be recognisable to people sitting as far as two tables away, even if they don’t have a particularly in-depth knowledge of watches.

The W22 collection certainly fits this bill, using high-polish 316L steel to deliver an unmistakably original look across its Neige and Bleu Fumé models – which have white and blue faces respectively – although it’s the black-faced Onyx model with its purple steel casing that stands out most for our money. Each model comes with an unmissable red strap made from a durable polyamide fabric as well as a light brown alternative made from genuine leather. And while Wolkov claims that these two straps will both come as standard, the brand also plans to “throw in a few extra as a surprise.”

Time to Innovate

The driving force behind this ambitious new collection is award-winning designer WIlliam Volcoff, who grew up in a watch-obsessed household, thanks to his father’s career distributing high-end watches from the likes of Zenith, Raymond Weill and Eterna across France. Volcoff claims that from a very young age he would look at watches and find himself yearning for something different, feeling as though many of the designs his father brought home were just too similar to one another.

It was this sense that innovation in the world of watches had stagnated that pushed Volcoff to pursue a career in design, thereby enabling him to put his passion for creating something new into effect. Wolkov Watches was born in 2018 after the designer had already spent years running his own design agency between Paris and Shanghai. Finally, he decided it was the right time to develop a product that would be entirely his own – one that wasn’t watered down through a process of client-negotiated compromise.

A Custom Creation

Now, the W22 collection sees Volcoff fulfilling this vision of a wholly unique timepiece. With the exception of its Sellita movement, nothing from the W22 range is off the shelf. Everything, from the case, lugs and dials to the hands, crown and even the six screws in the watch’s back, is completely custom.

To get your hands on this timepiece that’s like no other and is guaranteed to turn heads every time you walk into a room, head over to Wolkov’s website and Kickstarter campaign. But first, check out the Wolkov W22 collection’s specs below.
