Best New Movie Trailers – January 2022

It’s official. We still have trailer fever. There’s no doubt about it. In a world where Apple TV+ & foot rubs are the new norm, and enticing us to go out and catch a flick is getting harder; a trailer can lead a film to global success or be the catalyst for missing its mark at the box office. As a result, we’ve seen an unprecedented effort put into the crafting of spine-tingling teasers and tantalising trailers. But the fact remains – not all trailers are made equal.

Here at Man of Many, we know trailers, man. Whether it’s Dave Grohl preparing to melt our collective faces off in ‘Studio 666’ or Liam Neeson trying desperately to make us forget he said that pretty awful thing that one time in ‘Blacklight’ – if the trailer’s red-hot, we’ll have a gander and let you know about it. So without further ado, here is a list of the Best New Movie trailers that dropped in January 2022.

Uncharted Exclusive Trailer

For those that have played the swashbuckling Uncharted games, casting Tom Holland as Nathan Drake might feel like a slap to the face. And you’d be right. Nathan Fillion is still alive. He still keeps it tight, too. Of course, this quasi-origin story renders Fillion an impossible choice – he’s far too ruggedly middle-aged handsome – and yet, it somehow still feels more ‘OK’ than plucking Spider-Man from one film, and getting him to play the exact same character in another. Except he’s in Indiana Jones clothes. Anyway, this trailer shows a bit more plot and Mark Wahlberg does the scrunched-up ‘What did you just say, pal’ face and I guess that’s worth seeing in its own right.

The Cursed Trailer #1

Complete with gushing quotes from movie buff websites, The Cursed looks like a genuine bit of horror. Following the story of John McBride – a pathologist, comes to town to investigate ‘the danger’ – The Cursed doesn’t seem to be trying to flip the spooky script when it comes to the genre. But from the trailer, we can at least expect some expert craft, solid acting, and (hopefully) a few frightening delights in store for us acolytes of screams, darkness, and gore.

‘X’ Official Trailer

Now here’s something we haven’t seen before. A movie about making a porno movie that’s actually a horror film. As per usual, the aficionado’s at Studio A24 are striving to bring us original storytelling, told in an original way – and for that, they already deserve your eighteen bucks, a medium bucket of popcorn, and awkward ass-grazed walk past the family in row D. We’ll give no more away than that because sometimes a trailer is best served cold.

Studio 666 Official Trailer

If it were ANYONE but the Foo Fighters, we’d be having a field day over this self-aware, barely meta cash-grab. But it is the Fooeys and so we ask you to keep an open mind when it comes to this comedy-horror that sees the band record a new album in a haunted house. So if you, like us, love demons, ghouls, rock’n’roll, and Dave Grohl, Studio 666 is here to melt your face off and drag you to movie hell.

Kimi Official Trailer

We almost didn’t include this trailer on the list for January, but it’s just so cliched we had to. Enter Zoe Kravitz looking like an anime character and some of the corniest movie-hype-copy you’ve likely ever seen. However, it surprised us to find out that Steven Soderbergh was in the director’s chair. And now we’re conflicted. On one hand, the cinematic hipster in us nearly went to re-write this blurb because, well, he’s a hot-shit Director and typically makes great movies. On the other, it really does look dodgy AF. Doesn’t matter now, it’s here.

Jackass Forever Final Trailer

The ‘final’ instalment of the brain stimulating Jackass series is here, and we confess to feeling a bittersweet pang of nostalgia for our youth: a time when a simple crash! bang! thud! got us excited, and Steve-o vomiting into a fart helmet made us laugh. And perhaps we will again when Jackass Forever ass-kicks its way into theatres this month.

Blacklight Trailer #1

“I don’t care who you are. But I do know what you want. If you are looking for a single-minded action movie, I can tell you I have a lot of those. What I also have, is a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career of making the same movie, over and over. Skills that make me a nightmare for people who like movies with actual scripts. If you let go of your money now and see my movie that will be the end of it – I will not look for you, I will not pursue you… but if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you… and I will kill you.” – Liam Neeson, 2022.
