As regular readers will have already noticed, Man of Many recently enjoyed a massive overhaul in terms of our branding and design. While we’re still committed to bringing you folks the very latest in products, culture and style, we decided it was time to work on our own style, and update the look, feel and functionality of our site, so we can keep doing what we love to do more efficiently (and in a much better-looking outfit, of sorts).
Built in conjunction with Sydney’s Canvas Group, our new site is tailored to bring more content to our readers and deliver a fresh look to our brand, which we decided was due for a slicker logo and a bolder colour scheme taken from the lyrical annals of The Rolling Stones (read: we painted it black).
While we’ll continue to work towards creating fresh and exciting articles to fill your feed with the latest and greatest products that we all love, as well as pop culture stories and style advice, here’s a bit more information about the new site, and a few tips to get the most out of reading the new and improved Man of Many.
Why the redesign?
Man of Many has been around since December 2012. What started as a part-time blog between two good mates very quickly grew, and continues to grow, into one of Australia’s largest independent men’s lifestyle publications. After almost six years of reporting on great experiences, the newest products that we could get our hands on, and some of our favourite rides (amongst other things), the website that we’d built all by ourselves all those years ago was struggling under the weight of both years of content, and loads of new readers, which we thought was a great problem to have.
We set out to redesign Man of Many for the same reason we set out to build the website in the first place: to efficiently curate all of the latest “guy stuff” into one handy place. With a renewed focus on the word “efficient”, we set about to build a site that would be easier to navigate, faster to load, and more functional for our readers. Simple as that.
The new Man of Many logo & branding
While we loved our old logo and branding, a change is as good as a holiday, and we felt that it was time to have a brand spanking logo and look for our website: something that matched the values of both ourselves and our readers: bold, to the point and focussed. Our goal was to create something unique that was distinctly ours.
Now rolled out across all of our many platforms, our new “M” logo is a play on our name (Man / Many > M/M), This is in conjunction with the new cleaner block text logo that sits as our masthead, ushers in a new approach for Man of Many: one which we’re excited to have lead us on to bigger and more exciting things for our brand, that will ultimately benefit our readers.
Our new and improved mobile design
With more than half of our readers browsing the site on smartphone or tablet devices, a huge motivator for redesigning Man of Many was completely overhauling how it displayed on mobile handsets. From smooth scrolling through articles that appear consecutively as they were published, to easier navigation between categories, as well as a dedicated navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, which allows for easier sharing and social interaction among other things, the new Man of Many mobile site is a vast improvement on its predecessor, and will ensure a better user experience for all.
New social sharing features
It’s now easier than ever to share your favourite articles, videos and images from Man of Many to your own channels. With dedicated share buttons at the top and bottom of each post, as well as individual image sharing available on hover, we’ve tried and tested every option to offer the easiest interface for readers to spread their best loved content.
We’re still across social media
While the website always has been and always will be our primary vessel for bringing the latest products, culture and style to the masses, we still maintain a booming presence on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, which combined with our email newsletter are the easiest way to stay abreast of the latest posts and feature articles, as well as competitions and exciting offers from our brand partners.
