Rich lists can be read a number of ways but ultimately, can come across as a bit of an ego stroke for people who have enough money not to care about where they've come (or what other people think). Announced today, however, is the Australian Financial Reviews young rich list for this year. What makes this so different, you ask? To be honest, not heaps, but a quick read through some of the names and you can't help but feel a little bit proud of our clever country - there's more youthful innovation and entrepreneurship here than you can poke a Bitcoin at.\r\n\r\nThe only prerequisites for getting listed is to be Australian, under 40 and stinking rich. The 100 wealthiest who fall into this category are featured, in order of their net worth, and there are some seriously rich mofos this year.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTaking out top spot is Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar (both 37 years old) at 1 & 2 - the brains behind Atlassian, who have a combined wealth of $6.08 billion. There are some other notable names there representing our nation's ingenuity; Tim Fung and Jonathan Lui who founded Airtasker debuted at 66 & 67 on the list. Plucky Gold Coast youngsters Nik Mirkovic (22) and Alex Tomic (24) made 58 & 59 on the list for their founding of HiSmile, a teeth-whitening product that has taken off due to the duo's in-depth understanding of how to utilise social media.\r\n\r\nThere's also megababe Miranda Kerr, fitness guru Kayla Itsines and model Erica Baxter repping the fairer sex on this year's list.
