Chris Burkard: The Joy of Surfing in Ice-Cold Water

Chris Burkard is a self-proclaimed surf photographer, if that is even a real job title. At 19 his parents wasn’t too pleased with his career choice but it was his dream and he followed it. As only a third of the world’s water is hot, surfers and beach goers flock to the same waters. What was a dream come true for Chris, soon turned into a mundane and routine task travelling to the same exotic locations, taking the same pictures year after year. He then undertook a personal crusade against the mundane and travels to places that are written off for being too cold, too far or too dangerous. The result is the most stunning photographs as well as a sense of fulfilment. This inspirational TED video is a must for all those that feels trapped by today’s ever connected society.
