According to several reports, Ronaldo has now agreed to a mammoth AUD$770 million contract with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, making him the highest-paid sportsperson of all time. In your face, Messi.

The superstar became a free agent after leaving Manchester united last week, per The Sun. Moving on quickly post-breakup, he’s now signed a two-and-a-half year deal worth AUD$308 million a year, according to a report from Marca. ESPN has reported Ronaldo is waiting until after the World Cup to officially confirm his new club.
It’s been a fierce battle to secure the services of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, leading to criminal amounts of money being thrown his way. Ronaldo revealed that he turned down a whopping AUD$5.3 million a week offer to play for Al-Nassr rivals Al-Hilal, having also knocked back interest from Newcastle United. Inter Miami was also believed to be in the race, with reports of owner David Beckham reaching out to the 37-year-old.
Al-Nassr, coached by Rudi Garcia, is currently second in the Saudi Pro League, three points behind Al-Shabab. The competition is currently on a World Cup break, with the club’s next game scheduled for December 16 – two days before the final. With Ronaldo aiming to take his country all the way, he plans to join his new teammates in January if the reports are accurate.
The former United star agreed to terminate his contract with the Red Devils after ripping the club in a tell-all interview with Piers Morgan. Sending the football world into a frenzy, Ronaldo criticised the club’s direction since Sir Alex Ferguson left and said he did not respect current manager Erik ten Hag.
