While working on the Summer Gin Project creating Bush and Coast, Archie Rose’s Master Distiller Dave Withers experimented with melting huge hunks of ice using sustainably sourced NSW ironbark in the wood-fired oven of Three Blue Ducks Rosebery. The result was so good that they decided to keep it as the second release under the Archie Rose Concepts label, reserved for the experimental spirits.
On the palate, Smoked Gin is dry and savoury with rich earthy notes of cinders and roasted nuts along with accents of barbecue and a blush colour. It’s best served with grapefruit juice, soda water or in citrus forward prohibition classics like a French 75 next to smoked meats, barbecued prawns and wood-fired bread.
Smoked Gin is available for pre-order for $99 AUD per bottle. It’s expected to receive a very limited release across bars, bottle shops and Archie Rose Distilling Co. from early March 2019.
