Beam Suntory Brings Roku Gin to Australian Shores

Australia goes big when it comes to quality gin, and that makes Beam Suntory’s latest news all the more exciting. Specifically, the Japanese spirits brand is bringing its highly acclaimed gin, Roku, to select retailers across our fine continent. To celebrate the launch, Beam Suntory will host a tasting experience at Town Hall in Sydney on Saturday 25 August. Attending gin-lovers will be taken on a botanical journey, Japanese style. And if you can’t make it, be sure to scoop up a bottle at the nearest abiding venue because this stuff is fantastic.

Roku Gin with Botanicals

Roku represents Beam Suntory’s first foray into gin territory, and the brand knocked this one out of the park. The word “Roku”, by the way, means “six” in Japanese, signified by the spirit’s premium blend of botanicals, as well as the bottle’s hexagonal shape. Whether you’re sipping it neat, on the rocks, or with a mixer, Roku delivers exquisite taste. From the nose, expect sweet, floral notes of cherry blossom and green tea. At first sip there comes a silky wave of citrusy yuzu, which rides atop a foundation of traditional gin flavour. On the finish, you’ll find hints of spice by way of Japanese sansho pepper. To read more about this amazing spirit, be sure to check out our previous write-up.

Roku gin will be available in select locations starting 17 July. It will retail at AU$64.99. Also, don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the tasting event in Sydney. After all, there are far worse ways to spend one’s time than sipping delicious gin from Japan.
