Guillermo Del Toro and Patron Team Up to Produce a Muy Oscuro Tequila

By in Drinks on

Patron is one of the finest tequilas in the world. Guillermo Del Toro is one of the most imaginative directors in the world. Both are from Jalisco, Mexico, so it only seems natural that the two of them would one day team up to make an exclusive limited edition signature bottle of añejo tequila together, aptly called Patron X Guillermo Del Toro. Now, how a director who is known for dark and often frightening imagery influences a bottle of fine tequila may be tough to fathom, but it all makes sense when you see the bottle and the packaging itself.

With tequila that has been aged for 5 years in oak barrels upside down, the bottle is dark brown with a skull resting on it’s top, holding a deep orange liqueur that is meant to compliment the tequila’s symphony of dark flavors. The box this exclusive bottle comes inside are decorated with darkly fantastic and complex illustrations by Guy Davis, who regularly collaborates with Del Toro on his film and television projects. He also designed the box itself, which has two doors on the front that open out, revealing the dark bottle in a truly dramatic fashion before you reach in and pour a glass or three.

Guillermo Del Toro wouldn’t want it to happen any other way.
