Iron Hill Brings East and West Together in their Rising Sun IPA

The Iron Hill Rising Sun IPA is a flavorful beer from a local brewing company. Named after a battle sight from the American Revolutionary War, Iron Hill carries on that tradition of love of liberty and pursuit of happiness by doing what they love to do. Considering that the company started with a home brewing kit that was a birthday gift from one of the founders’ wives, the company has done well. Since then, they’ve opened more locations and continue to grow, and win awards.

Working off the dream of brewing beer, the founders came up with a concept of an innovative brewery and restaurant concept that broke the fledgling company free of one founder’s basement. Shortly after, and within only a year of opening, Iron Hill won a gold medal with their Lodestone Lager at the American Brewer’s Association’s Great American Beer Festival. From that base, they’ve gone on to win other events, including the World Beer Cup, where in 2010 they brought home the title World’s Best Brewpub—an award they repeated again in 2014.

Iron Hill isn’t just about beer, though. They also partner with CureSearch for Children’s Cancer. A portion of all their Triple Chocolate Hill dessert sales goes to the organization.

The Rising Sun IPA has a basis in the American IPA style, but the feel and flavor have more to do with a Japanese Sorachi Ace single-hop. What you get is notes of lemon and coconut in a light and well-balanced beer.
