To celebrate Father’s Day in the United States, Miller Lite and New Balance have joined forces to create the first-ever beer shoe, the “Shoezie”. Not to be mistaken for Daniel Ricciardo’s “shoey”, the originators of the Dad shoe have come together with the Father of Light Beer to craft the shoe-meets koozie for the ultimate Dad flex!
Inspired by the iconic New Balance 642 Trainer, the limited edition Shoezie is made of the same material as New Balance shoes and is designed to have your beer looking as cool as your feet. The leather upper is supported by a rubber sole unit that helps keep the beer cool, supported and comfortable.
“As The Original Light Beer, we are proud to celebrate all things beer and all things dad, and the Shoezie does just that,” said Sofia Colucci, vice president of marketing, Miller Family of Brands. “When we dreamed up the Shoezie, there was only one brand to bring it to life and that was the maker of the classic “Dad Shoe,” New Balance. Together we want to thank all dads out there for keeping the grass cut, grilling those perfect meats, agreeing to the family dog, and of course, raising a Miller Lite, one can at a time.”
Bringing together two brands that every tong-toting, lawn-mowing, polo short wearing dad loves, the Shoezie is marketing done right, and the latest campaign doesn’t disappoint. Miller Lite recently released a marketing campaign featuring the “Shoezie” and everyday Fathers in relatable ‘Dad settings’. “As a dad myself, I know most dads do certain things, like watch TV standing up, keep the garage clean, sear a perfect steak, wear New Balance 624s, and drink Miller Lite,” said Ben Wolan, executive creative director, DDB San Francisco. “We didn’t want actors because dads are already so good at doing what they do.”
Entries for The Miller Lite x New Balance Shoezie sweepstakes will be available on the official Shoezie website Father’s Day, June 20 10 a.m. EDT.
