Sacred Spirits has been building a solid reputation ever since its founding in London in 2008. That reputation, though, has only be growing in the UK, Europe, the US, and the Far East. Granted, that growth has seen plenty of awards for its gins, vodkas, whiskies, vermouths, and apertifs, but expansion hasn’t been happening as quickly as some may have wished. That’s changing for Australians as Sacred Spirits has formed a deal with Kent Street Cellars to start distributing their signature gin through retailers come this Spring.
Founded by Ian Hart and Hilary Whitney, Sacred Spirits uses a vacuum distillation process that is carried out by hand in their Highgate distillery. “Vacuum distillation gives our liquid a unique taste and freshness as the botanicals are distilled separately and have not been affected by heat,” explains Hart. “Traditional distillation is great, but we wanted more control over the flavors we create. This is just the way we do things.” Sacred also uses organically sourced botanicals for even better flavor. Those botanicals include juniper, cardamom, pink grapefruit, and frankincense.
“It’s no secret that Australians love their gin, with recent data from the 2018 International Wine Spirit Report showing Australia’s gin consumption grew by almost 33 percent from 2017 to 2018 and more than 15 percent from 2013 to 2018,” reports Kent Street Cellars retain manager Jennifer Derksen. “Furthermore, the trend towards more organic spirits is also something we’re looking to leverage with the organic products within the range.” Sacred Spirits is more than happy to fulfill that need, and will be sending not only its signature Sacred Gin to Australia, but also Cardamom Gin, Bottled Negroni, Organic Vodka, Old Tom Gin, Pink Grapefruit Gin, Rosehip Cup, and Organic Sloe Gin. The line sells for between $79.99 and $110.00.
