Sullivans Cove has already been named the world\u2019s best single malt whisky for 2018, and now the Tasmanian distillery is gearing up to launch its limited edition brandy named Sullivans Cove XO.\r\n\r\nBorn from a partnership with members of the thriving Tasmanian wine industry, Sullivans Cove XO offers a brandy unlike any other. It's rich, complex and uniquely Tasmanian.\r\n\r\nTo make this brandy, wines from the Huon Valley region were distilled using the same techniques Sullivans Cove uses to create its award-winning whiskies then aged within French or American Oak barrels.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\u201cAfter years of distilling whisky, the opportunity to work with quality Tasmanian wine was really exciting for us,\u201d says Patrick Maguire, Head Distiller. \u201cWe\u2019ve waited a long time to see the results, and we couldn\u2019t be happier with the quality and complexity of these brandies.\u201d\r\n\r\nThe first release of Sullivans Cove XO was matured in a 300L American Oak ex-tawny\/fortified wine barrel for an impressive nine years. The wait must have been unbearable.\r\n\r\nSullivans Cove XO Brandy will release as two different styles: XO Single Cask comes from complex and intriguing brandy barrels that express their unique characteristics, plus it's non-chill filtered and unblended. Each barrel produces only a few hundred bottles.\r\n\r\nXO Double Cask, expected later this year, also non-chill filtered, will be crafted using traditional vatting techniques to create a rich and complex brandy.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\u201cOur brandies will strike a chord with single malt drinkers due to their intense depth, rich complexity and balanced elegance, which is exactly what our supporters expect from us,\u201d adds Heather Tillott, Production Manager.\r\n\r\nBottles from this cask will be available exclusively to members of the Sullivans Cove mailing list before releasing to the public.
