Temperature Over Temperance: Taylors Wines Launch Exclusive Celsius Pop-Up

Australians are a notoriously careless bunch when it comes to drinking wine, and really, it’s not entirely our fault. Drinking reds at room temperature is one thing, but when the room’s ambient temperature is akin to the distributor cap of an overworked Sudanese schoolbus, you’re probably not doing your vin rouge any favours.

And ice in a cheeky arvo Chardy is a favourite, it’s true, who doesn’t want a hyper-chilled bevvo when the mercury’s topping-out?

When you consider the high quality wines we so famously produce, however, it’s a strange habit to so commonly destroy the nuanced intricacies of our top drops by drinking them at inapproriate levels of warmth or chill-factor.

Highly awarded Clare Valley winemakers Taylors are on a mission to change these habits, and during a brief pop-up at Waterloo event space Commune. Over three courses with matching wines, Africola executive chef Duncan Welgemoed will pair dishes with wines that are served at the precise perfect drinking temperature. To give a literal display of what constitutes the perfect temperature, the cost of a ticket includes the use of a FLIR ONE thermal imaging attachment for your smartphone for the course of the evening.
