A Four-Day Whisky Festival is Coming to Sydney in April

Drinking good whisky on the rocks in The Rocks. It doesn’t get much better than that, gents. Christmas comes early yet again whiskey lovers with Whisk(e)y On The Rocks returning to Sydney’s iconic watering hole from April 28 to May 1. That’s four days of tasting some of the finest malts in the land right here in our own backyard. This really is better than LEGO.

If you’ve never been to the now annual Whisk(e)y On The Rocks festival you really should make the pilgrimage this year. It might just be the best pop-up bar you’ve yet to experience. Yeah – the view is unreal – but so too is the whisky. Whether you fancy yourself a bourbon or scotch man – it doesn’t matter – there really is something for everyone to uncover or rediscover. And, if you’re still a newbie to the world of whisky adoration, that’s okay, too. In fact, there’s no better time to educate your palate than a whisky fair as everything is right at your lips.

To help you navigate your way around like The Rocks good ol Captain Cook style, the historic precinct is divided into three official Whisky Zones located in First Fleet Park, Campbell’s Cove and Playfair St. Amongst the highlights of Whisky Park at First Fleet Park will no doubt be sampling the Glenfiddich goodness from the comforts of its famous Whisky Wanderer Bus – a classic 1972 Double Decker Bus converted into a luxury whisky lounge on wheels. This beast really does need to be seen to be believed.

Other festival favourites include a tip-toe through the Fever-Tree Highball Garden for whisky samples from the likes of Johnny Walker, Talisker, Wild Turkey and, of course, Fever-Tree. Meanwhile, the Monkey Shoulder Mixer Truck is back bigger than ever and will showcase top-notch live music all day long. Be sure to treat yourself to a tasting of their premium iconic Blended Malt Scotch Whisky – it’s to die for. These monkeys really mean business.

And, if that’s not enough to get you in the mood, our pals at Sheep Dog’s Peanut the Sheep Dog Van will certainly have your tail wagging. Peanut butter flavoured whiskies mixed on ice as well as Sheep Dog’s Espresso Woofini’s (a peanut butter espresso martini) will have you howling at the moon. And then there’s the Whisky Trail, where many of The Rocks’ iconic establishments will play host to an exclusive bend.
