It’s no secret that Australians can’t get enough of Wild Turkey bourbon; just look at how many special releases make their way down under. We’re the largest consumer market for the Kentucky cordial outside of the US, and the good folks at the distillery are well aware of this.
This is why every new release gets a special allocation for our southern shores, and there’s a fair bit of fanfare whenever one of these is announced. The latest is a reiteration of one of the first special editions Master Distiller Jimmy Russell experimented with. His son, Eddie, also a Master Distiller for the brand, decided to take their delicious liquid and finish it in Oloroso sherry casks for the newest addition to the “Master’s Keep” range: Revival.
“Behind every release is a personal story, and this one is about the legacy created by my father and Master Distiller, Jimmy Russell,” said Eddie, of his latest expression. “I’m so passionate about Master’s Keep Revival and the meaning behind the release, a revival of my father’s classic recipe.”
Master’s Keep: Revival displays aromas of raisins, citrus, nuts and oak. Having rested for 12 to 15 years in a reserved lot of American Oak barrels, before being finished in 20-year-old Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks, it is a deliciously balanced and complex whiskey that belongs on any serious bourbon fan’s back bar.
