Dylan Rieder was one of the most influential skateboarders of all time. This past October, the talented athlete passed away from leukaemia. He was just 28-years-old. Dylan was not only a talented skateboarder, but he was a serious stylish dude and model as well.
Skateboarders were usually not thought of as style icons; rather they were outcasts, but skateboarders like Dylan sought to change all of that and helped skateboarding style cross over to the runway. Dylan often served as an inspiration for high fashion. In 2014, he posed with Cara Delevingne for DKNY, and in 2014, Dylan was featured in Vogue as part of the magazine’s “Untamed Youth” feature story.
Before his death, Rieder designed a skateboarding shoe with one of the most highly-regarded skateboard apparel and footwear designers in the world—HUF.
Now, to celebrate Rieder’s natural style and contribution to skateboarding, HUF just released a limited-edition shoe in honour of the professional skater’s 29th birthday. Named the Dylan Driver, this all-black loafer was handcrafted in the United States. Made from fine Italian full-grain leather, it features a comfortable interior lining and footbed both made out of high-quality lambskin. Other features include HUF branding on the upper, a Vibram outsole and a supportive, soft EVA midsole. The lambskin insole has a rose and Dylan’s signature in gold foil.
This limited-edition shoe will only be available in limited quantities. HUF Worldwide plans to release just 60 pairs of these loafers. HUF plans to donate part of the proceeds from the sale of these special edition shoes to the Rieder family.
