In an Australian first that’s already got wine buffs tingling in anticipation, eleven of Bordeaux’s most renowned châteaux will travel from France to Sydney and Melbourne to debut their wines ‘En Primeur’ in an exclusive tasting event later next week.
En Primeur–or ‘wine futures’–is arguably the single most important annual event in the global wine calendar, marking the time of year when the Bordelais offer barrel samples before their bottling, and eventual sale, generally two years after vintage. Somelliers and distributors travel to the chateaux each year for the privilege, but this year Langton’s is bringing the opportunity right to the doorsteps of Sydney and Melbourne, in two exclusive tastings to be hosted next Tuesday and Thursday.
Guests can opt for a roving tasting ticket, or enjoy dinner to be accompanied by a selection of the wines at the event. There’s also the added advantage of being able to purchase the wines of the future.
Whether you’re a connoisseur of the good stuff or want to surprise the wine lover in your life with something unique and highly exclusive, here’s your chance.
Roving tasting tickets cost AUD$70, which includes barrel samples of twelve 2018 wines, their 2015 comparisons, grazing table and canapés. The Ultimate Connoisseurs Tasting & Dinner Experience is set at AUD$300 and includes barrel samples of twelve 2018 wines, their 2015 comparisons, grazing table and canapés, followed by a three-course dinner hosted by representatives from the participating Châteaux.
