Evo R, the new running shoe from Hoka One One, breaks with tradition and reinvents the way that running spikes grip the track. Hoka One One reports that 60 percent of a track athlete’s time is spent making left turns. So they designed each pair of Evo R shoes to feature asymmetrical spike patterns. The idea is that the shoes provide more stability in left turns than traditional designs. The shoe also features extra cushioning than your typical track shoe purposed for middle to long distance runners.
The Evo R includes a support plate that’s strapped across the mid-sole. The plate folds back under the arch towards the outer edge of the track. This design supports the foot and improves stability, so the foot can’t twist and slide.
The Evo R debuted on athletes at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, and the team will also wear them in the Olympics. Initially embraced by the highest performing athletes, Hoka One One now creates unique shoes to support all types of athletes The Evo R shoes will be available to the public in limited runs beginning February 2017.
