Fitness brand Technogym is introducing a new exercise bike that emulates the challenges of outdoor riding. Skillbike is the first of its kind to offer real gear shifting, replicating the dynamics of hill riding. Also, Road Effect simulates the feeling of riding outside by reading your pedalling style and performance parameters. As an official supplier of the last seven Olympic games, it’s safe to say Technogym knows its equipment.
The Real Gear Shift function enables riders to switch from power based training to hill climbing. This can improve strength and endurance and is an interesting new way to train. By shifting gears, riders can counter the change in resistance and maintain the correct power and cadence for maximum efficiency, while the console displays gear ratio selections in real-time.
Skillbike’s frame and handlebars are shaped to accommodate road, time trial and mountain bike riding positions. An integrated 7-inch colour LCD console displays all of the relevant data with real-time feedback on cadence, watts, speed, distance, gradient, heart rate, selected gear and gear ratio. It can also give feedback on the circularity and symmetry of your pedalling at different gear ratios to monitor and increase your efficiency.
Riders can make use of a wide range of training programs, to evaluate performance and recommend the best training levels. Skillbike is integrated with Strava, Garmin and Zwift to keep you on track with your goals.
It’s time you started hounding your gym instructor about purchasing some new bikes.
