The Rocks ‘Playfair Takeover’ is Welcoming Three Delicious Pop-Ups This Month

Clear your calendars, because over the next few weeks, The Rocks’ delicious Playfair Takeover will be welcoming three exciting venues to its growing roster. To celebrate the occasion, the Playfair Street takeover will be turning it on from Wednesday 14 September, with live music and giveaways up for grabs.

The three new pop-up venues are the star of the show, with a perfect range of cuisine, flavour and vibes, and we couldn’t be more excited. Without further ado, this is what you can expect from each exciting new venue.

First up is cult favourite Fishbowl, which will be teaming up with distilled non-alcoholic spirit brand Seedlip. The two popular brands are a match made in heaven, blending a shared love of health and goodness into an epic, wholesome menu. You can expect a unique and innovative concept store stocked with fresh and sustainable eats, like vibrant salad bowls and bright, fragrant non-alcoholic cocktails from legendary bartender Matt Whiley. The perfect addition for those wanting to keep things healthy.

Next up is Neighbourhood Delicatessen, for those in the mood for a touch of indulgence. Successfully wearing various hats, the brainchild of The Rocks’ The Fine Food Store is a two-trick pony, running as a bustling cafe by day and transforming into an intimate wine bar by night. A true chameleon, you can grab the freshest of pastries and just-out-of-the-oven bread (we can smell it already) in the morning, and indulge in an extensive menu consisting of wines, martinis, negronis and charcuterie platters by night.

The third venue that will be joining the party is Libano Mexicano. If there’s an award for expertly mastering a unique fusion of two very separate cuisines, this place deserves it. Seamlessly fusing Lebanese and Mexican influences, the experimental menu is truly out of this world and promises at least one dish you’ve never tried before. On the menu, you can expect to find “pitacos” – Lebanese pita bread tacos, sujuk quesadillas with Lebanese bread and for dessert, churros with chocolate hummus dip and tres leches sauce. In terms of drinks, the Mexican-inspired menu doesn’t disappoint, with spicy margs rimmed with Tajin simply screaming your name.
