The Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2015

In recent years, Australian craft beers have become increasingly popular, with many new brands entering the market each year. The Great Australian Beer Spectapular (GABS) Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of the Year poll began in 2008 with the hopes of identifying the best craft beers that Australia has to offer. What first started as a bit of fun between staff members and customers at the award winning Local Taphouse beer bars in Melbourne and Sydney, is now run by the GABS Beer & Food Festival and is proudly supported by The Local Taphouse, Crafty Pint, Australian Brews News and Dan Murphy’s. The poll attracts thousands of beer fans around the country who vote for their 5 favourite Aussie craft beers and enjoy the countdown on Australia Day at The Local Taphouses, Official Events around the country, live podcasts and on social media.

stone wood style Pale Ale beer

hop hog american style ipa

2 ‘Hop Hog’ American-style IPA (Feral, WA)

double american style ipa

3 ‘IIPA’ Double American-style IPA (Pirate Life, SA) NEW

To achieve a big flavourful IIPA you need: Big Malt + Big Hops + Big Fermentation.
The malt provides the complex spectrum of sugars for fermentation as well as the main structure and body of the beer. The hops contribute bitterness to balance the malt sweetness as well as resinous piney flavours and juicy fruity-citrusy aromas. The fermentation provides you with a big hit of fun juice and the vast array of incredibly important characterful aroma and flavour compounds.

Best paired with: Everything, all of the time.
