Canberra is fast becoming a hub of trendy restaurants, live music venues, bars and weekend getaways for young professionals with places such as Akiba, The Phoenix, and The White Rabbit Room. Not only that, but it also seems to be the perfect destination for blokes that want to whisk their ladies off their feet. We explain why, after our recent trip to Canberra, along with our guide man's guide to visiting a spa (but let's be honest, it's not that hard).

Our 5-star experience began with a stay at Hotel Realm and a day at the Hale Gym and Spa. We were lucky enough to stay in an executive suite with a private balcony overlooking the parliament house.

Clothes off. Robes On. And Chill.
Upon entering the room, you walk into your own private lounge, greeted with a personalised note, a small bottle of Bailey’s and chocolates. The lounge opens up onto a balcony that has breathtaking sunset views over the parliament house. Passing the lounge, you conveniently have a small kitchenette area, fully equipped with more than the essentials including a selection of T2 teas and a Nespresso machine with coffee pods. This is all complimentary.

The bedroom is next and we can all agree on the importance of comfort and luxury when it comes to a bed. In the executive suite we had a king size bed so good that we never wanted to leave. Think goose down bed toppers, feather down & microfibre pillows and a smart TV with a selection of latest release movies, TV series and sport. One of our favourite parts was the bathroom that had a spa bath inside. Yep that’s right, our own personal jacuzzi. Honestly, why would anyone want to leave this place?

Well, the only reason worth leaving was the Hale Gym & Spa. A new addition to the Doma Hotel group and also Canberra’s newest and most luxurious wellness destination. The spa has a full list of treatments available, from massages to facials to body treatments and very impressive gentleman’s manicure and pedicure options. Yes, men need these too.

The couples massage was the perfect way to set the mood for a relaxing escape whereafter we could un-wind even further in front of a fire place in their Scandi-style lounge area. Top that with a couple’s suite at the spa that has a bath and dual shower inside and you’ve scored about 100 brownie points with your significant other.

If you’re the fitness type or even if you’re not, the Hale gym is a fitness heaven. Contemporary yet very sophisticated. With the latest in techno-gym equipment, state of the art facilities and classes for any and everybody, your fitness motivation just got that much easier. Finish off your gym session in their cave-like plunge pool or infrared sauna and steam room and you will leave the gym feeling extra relaxed and refreshed. This is what going to a gym is supposed to be like!

Thanks to the Doma Hotel Group for making Canberra that much sweeter and a special thanks to General Manager Xin Jin who made our stay unforgettable.
Check it out: Hotel Realm
Check it out: Hale Gym & Spa

Have you subscribed to Man of Many?
