Every year, for the last decade, Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing have released a new special-edition racing boat. The two companies have been designing special-edition performance boats together over the past ten years.
Knowing how impressive the past boats have been, we were eagerly awaiting the announcement of this year’s collab. We were not disappointed when they unveiled the 2018 Mercedes-AMG Marauder Boat at this year’s Miami International Boat Show in February.
This 50-foot long offshore racing boat was inspired by the Mercedes-AMG GT R. The Marauder has the performance and good looks of the Mercedes-AMG DGT R.
Powered by a pair of Mercury Racing twin-turbocharged V8 engines, this powerful, sleek powerboat is fast as hell. The engine can get up to a combined 3100 horsepower. One of the unique features of the Marauder is the ability to switch power levels depending upon need. The pilot can choose to operate the boat at 1350 hp for relaxed cruising or 1550 hp for high-intensity cruising. A unique key fob allows the driver to switch the power levels back and forth.
The lightweight carbon fibre construction of the Marauder also contributes to the boat’s incredible speed. The Marauder weighs about 589 kg less than similar boats allowing it to reach high speeds quickly. The cockpit, consoles and deck were also designed with carbon fibre.
Finally, the Marauder is finished up with a custom paint job—a Green Hell Mango colour to correspond to the Mercedes-AMG GT R. This rare powerboat is a limited edition. Mercedes-AMG says that only eight will be produced.
