Located in New York’s Catskill Mountain, Scribner’s Catskill Lodge is a great place to go to get away from it all. This boutique lodge is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. You will find something to do near the lodge year-round, rather it is hiking, fishing, zip lining or swimming. The lodge sits on 20 acres of land in the mountains and offers unmatched scenery.
Scribner’s Lodge first opened in 1966. It has quite an interesting history. In the old days, an underground pool area called “The Grotto” was home to lots of adult-themed parties. In November of last year, the lodge underwent an extensive renovation right down to the very studs of the lodge. It was transformed from a swanky eccentric ski lodge to a modern, chic boutique hotel. Although traces of the lodge’s history are evident throughout the hotel, it has a toned-down, more relaxing appeal.
With just 38 rooms, Scribner’s Lodge is a great place to relax and unwind. Dimmed lighting and soft music throughout the lodge add to the peaceful ambience.
An onsite restaurant, named Prospect offers 270-degree views of the spectacular mountains beyond the lodge. The restaurant sources all ingredients from the Hudson Valley. Locally-sourced food results in a menu that features the freshest fare possible.
The renovated guest rooms are pretty swanky with lots of unique features like wood stoves and sunken living rooms. As a nod to Scribner’s sordid past, one of the rooms even has a bed with a mirror above it.
Other features include weekend wellness workshops, a library lounge, spa and gym. Scriber’s Catskill Lodge is the ultimate mountain escape for any urban explorer.
