Substation No. 41 Caipirinha Recipe & Rum Giveaway
This week saw Australia’s star athletes mark the official one-year countdown to the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, with a sports star-studded gala at The Star. Here at Man of Many we thought it would be fitting to herald the occasion with a good stiff drink. A Caipirinha – the national cocktail of Brazil – to be exact, to road-test the new bottle of Substation no. 41 rum that has just hit our desks.
But don’t worry, we haven’t gone totally Carnivale on you. Substation no. 41 is a home-grown rum and has been developed specifically with our cider-drinking, steak-loving Aussie palates in mind. So while we were toasting to Rio, our taste-buds were chanting Aussie, Aussie, Aussie from the stands!
Our Happy Hour – with our version of a Caipirinha (it’s traditionally made with Brazilian rum) was completely on point for this new addition to the liquor market. The spirit is sweeter than traditional rums, with notes of citrus and vanilla, so the addition of lime and fine sugar complimented the profile of this premium rum to a tee.
But with a plethora of brands in front of us when we hit the bottle-o, what makes Substation no. 41 so special? That would be the suave bartender gents at the bar Substation, who pooled their expertise to play a hand in influencing this namesake drink. Still not impressed? These guys are Rum Artisans and the establishment is one of the leading Rum Bars in the world, with over 500 varieties from which to base their highly informed opinions. Seriously, Rum Artisan – who doesn’t want that on their business card?
Substation no. 41 caters to a wide variety of tastes and mixes brilliantly from cola-based tipples to mojitos, or simply over ice to appreciate its smooth, full flavour.
We will definitely be adding this bottle to the drinks trolley rotation. As for whether it will pave the way for our tremendous sporting prowess to shine in time for the 2016 Olympics remains to be seen, but in the meantime Substation no. 41 rum will definitely make a great accompaniment for any armchair spectator.
