Known for always being outside the traditional bourbon box, the Woodford Reserve’s annual Master’s Collection continues this unique take with this limited release. Made with malted barley, the Classic Malt and Straight Malt Whisky with the former living in used bourbon barrels, while the latter matures in new charred oak barrels. The Classic Malt begins with a grassy, earthy scent and a thin and creamy texture that has hints of honey and heather.
The Straight Malt has similar scents by with elements of clove, vanilla and oak. There’s a little bit of sweetness with an oak presence that finishes quite spiced and more mellowed than the Classic. It’s a unique combination of scotch and bourbon. This is definitely something to try for the whiskey aficionados. This doesn’t come by cheap either, as it sits on the shelves at $225, so be prepared to throw some dough around to give this bad boy a go.
