Panasonic is taking aim at that funky foot odor with its new shoe deodorizer. In a survey conducted by Panasonic, 62 percent of sneaker wears reported having to take action about the funk that came out of their shoes when they took them off. Of those, only about half were satisfied with the measures they took to deodorize their shoes.

One of the major contributors to stinky shoes is the isovaleric acid caused by foot sweat and bacteria. Panasonic’s shoe deodorizer, the MS-DS100, uses “nanoe X” ion particles that can dissolve and eliminate unpleasant odors. The particles contain hydroxyl (OH) radicals, which are nano-sized electrostatic atomized water particles. When these particles come in contact with odor causing culprits, they dissolve them to eliminate the smell.

All you have to do is select which mode—a short mode that lasts around five hours, or the long mode that goes for about seven—and place the device in your shoes. From there, the deodorizer produces the nanoe X particles and spreads them throughout the shoes, from heel to toe. The particles then penetrate the materials of the shoe and dissolve the odors. The deodorizer operates off of batteries, so no need to be near an outlet.

If you’re chasing people from the room every time you slip of your shoes, then you’ll be glad to know that this device will be available in late September, 2018.
Check it out
Have you subscribed to Man of Many?
