Your dog might be marking his territory on the local trees, but his cool dog house could be saving those trees. Californian firm Studio Schiecketanz has put together a green, sustainable dog house that is eco-friendly, and pretty cool.
The most immediately noticeable aspect of this dog house is the side ram that is green carpeted and leads to the roof, which is also green and features a motion-activated water faucet and irrigation system. From there, the house is primarily the traditional box shape with a slanted roof. The floor of the house is covered with a soft rubberized surface and has a built in drain to aid in cleaning (the front also swings open for easier access). A solar-powered fan is also included to help keep your best friend cool during the day. Windows on either side allow for added air flow, and for the occupants to see what’s going on in the neighborhood. In a smart use of space, the outside features a pull out drawer under the ramp where you can store toys, treats, and other necessities.
The house was displayed at the Carmel Canine Cottages Competition, and was auctioned off to raise money for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
