The Ion Adventure Hotel in Iceland was an abandoned inn before it was turned into a boutique hotel. Now this exotic destination is a place where modern design meets Iceland’s unparalleled natural beauty.
The Ion Adventure Hotel is located in Selfoss in the south-western tip of Iceland. There, two national roads converge, creating the perfect stopping point for adventurers. The hotel features 45 rooms, each taking advantage of the exposed concrete to give them an earthy feeling. Locally salvaged driftwood mix with lava pieces to give the hotel a warm and mellow sense. Visitors can select from any of the 21 standard rooms or upgrade to one of the 24 deluxe rooms. Each room—standard and deluxe—offer floor to ceiling windows to allow full appreciation of the breath-taking views. The Silfra Restaurant and Bar offers farm fresh cuisine, and the Lava Spa is ready to pamper road-weary travelers.
The surrounding area has plenty to keep guests entertained. At night, the incredible Northern Lights put on an unforgettable show. Mount Hengill is nearby, so visitors can take in all its volcanic marvels. If a more urban experience is desired, Reykjavik is just down the road. Thingvellir National Park is within sight of the hotel, as is the Nesjavellir Geothermal Power Plant.
The hotel may once have been abandoned, but now it is a place where you can abandon your cares and relax in the majesty of Iceland.
