IO House has created a new approach to off-grid living with their ultra-mobile SPACE living quarters. The Space can be picked up and moved to any location. And it’s completely self-contained. All you need is a smartphone or tablet. You won’t need to worry about connecting to external sewage or electrical and water systems. All the home’s living systems—heating, ventilation, and others—are integrated directly into the building.
The SPACE is also environmentally friendly. Knowing that the home could be put anywhere in nature, the designers didn’t want it to be at odds with its surroundings. That’s why they used natural materials to put the home together—wood, wool, glass, and metal, nothing synthetic.
There’s plenty of space to live comfortably in IO House’s SPACE. Measuring 60 square meters of residential living area, the SPACE comes with a master bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, control and utility rooms, and decks on either side. Electricity is provided by solar panels and a generator. The water system has a 2,000 liter capacity; the sewage system can hold up to 3,000 liters. It also comes outfitted with a dishwasher, gas cooker, refrigerator, washing machine, coffee machine for hot water and a steamer, and a water purifier. Even if you’re off grid, you’ll still be able to enjoy the TV and stereo systems, WiFi, and a security system.
Best of all, when you’re ready for a new location, IO House is ready to go with you.
