You might recognise him for being one of the greatest footballers to have ever lived, but Barcelona icon Lionel Messi is also an incredibly successful businessman. Since 2007, the Argentinian has owned the hotel chain MiM Hotels, which is operated by Majestic Hotel Group, an organisation run by Messi’s brother Rodrigo. After launching monster properties in Ibiza, Mallorca and Sitges, the Messi hotel portfolio has just welcomed a new addition, a luxury ski resort located in the heart of the Pyrenees in the Aran Valley.
Hotel MiM Baqueira makes use of one of Spain’s biggest and most popular ski lifts, making it a highly sought-after location. The existing property houses a four-star hotel with 141 rooms situated at the bottom of the ski slopes, looking out across the Aran Valley. The accommodation includes duplexes, suites, and junior suites, with dining options such as Restaurant Land, serving local Aranese and international meals.
“Located at the foot of the slopes, next to the ski lift of the Baqueira Beret ski resort, this is the ideal place to enjoy a holiday with the family, a getaway for two, or a trip with friends as well as the perfect place to hold a business event surrounded by the unique natural environment,” the resort’s official website reads.
While the massive new property offers all the amenities you’d expect from a world-class ski resort, such as a spa, indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, and mountain guide services, Hotel MiM Baqueira is very much an adventurer’s playground.
Rather than spending your time indoors by the fireplace, Messi’s latest acquisition is the ideal spot for those who actually want to tackle the slopes. The simple, yet luxurious mountain style interiors offer unimpeded access to the region’s best powder, at the foot of the Baqueira Beret ski resort. The property will open to reservations in October 2021.
