When we first caught wind of Baby Dior and Inglesina House’s latest collaboration, we thought that anyone willing to drop USD$7,700 (AUD$10,600) on a baby stroller either had too much money or the world’s most-spoilt child, however, upon reflection, that might not be a fair assessment. In fact, looking at the price of baby accessories, in particular those designed to transport precious cargo, the figure doesn’t actually seem out of the realm of plausibility. Even Baby Bunting is flogging $3,000 strollers at the moment, meaning the step up to Dior baby couture might not be as expansive as first thought.
A natural evolution from its debut Oblique Print Baby Stroller, the Baby Dior Spring/Summer 2022 collection introduces the new Bassinet Stroller Combo, a design created in partnership with Inglesina House. The latest addition is a stroller combo that features a Toile de Jouy updated by Cordelia de Castellane in navy blue tones, reminscent of the Dior of old. Naturally, the design language is effortlessly classic, capturing the same level of sophistication and prestige that the grown-up fashion house has become renowned for. From the Dior-engraved leather handlebar, right down to the water-repellent canvas, the ambitious styling details are a nod to the luxurious nature of contemporary baby-culture, and it doesn’t stop there.
Great design has always happened at the intersection of form and function, and the Baby Dior Bassinet Stroller Combo doesn’t negate the latter. The mixed-form carrier also features custom 360-degree Dior front wheels and an adjustable awning, however, the major boost comes in the reversible seat. Parents can adjust the seating arrangement of the stroller so as to have the child positioned facing forward or facing them, whichever is preferred.
Thankfully, Dior has made set-up slightly easier, as well. The stroller’s versatile frame can be safely folded or unfolded, with both the bassinet and stroller easily equipped to support the child as they progress through life stages, which is great. There’s nothing worse than dropping $7,700 on a new stroller only to have your little angel grow out of it in a few months. Kids, who’d have them, right? The new Baby Dior X Inglesina House Bassinet Stroller Combo is available in European and American markets now, through the Dior online boutique.
