The British lighting company Plumen has already garnered awards for its light bulb design, including its Plumen 001. The LED bulb was first released in 2010 and it captured the world’s attention as the first sculptural light bulb. The reinvented bulbs are eco-friendly and considered “designer”—so much so that they are now sold and featured in many prominent museum collections around the world.
The Plumen 001 is a low energy bulb that has been reincarnated as an LED with a lifetime of 20,000 hours. The bulb is due to be launched in the US and Canada this year, and will be available in warm white. It will also be dimmable. Over it’s lifetime, which is eight times longer than an incandescent bulb, the Pluemn 001 can save you 80 per cent on your energy bill as compared to incandescent bulbs. While the savings are nice, it’s the design that is the real stand out. The twisted tubes are a nice focal point, and they look good under a shade or out in the open.
