The Montblanc pen design that started it all receives a new and sophisticated special edition along with modern features and an elegant spider engraving on the nib. Heritage Rouge et Noir, Spider Metamorphosis has the vintage look and feel of the original fountain pen from 1909, yet adds a new size and shape along with advanced piston technology for a more luxurious writing experience.
The spider on the nib and cap are ancient metaphors for the creative act of writing. The spider is symbolic of the author who artfully weaves words into an intricate web of poetry and a recurring Montblanc design motif since the 1920s.
This spider weaves its intricate web around the top of the pen and descends onto the clip. The engraving carries over to the rhodium-plated Au585 gold nib, and the clip is adorned with orange coloured synthetic stones representing the gaze of the arachnid’s eyes.
The cap itself is crafted from lacquer, while the barrel is made of highly polished resin. A traditional off-white snowcap embedded in coral red crowns the pen while the patina-finished fittings give this special edition a distinctively vintage look.
There are just 1906 examples of this beautiful pen. It’s a nod to the year Montblanc was founded. The Heritage Rouge & Noir Spider Metamorphosis pen is available now online and in Montblanc boutiques worldwide. It’s available in two colourways and will set you back USD $2,660. To complement the pen, Montblanc is also releasing special ink and refills in grey inspired by the colour of a spider’s web.
In other Montblanc news, the luxury brand has released a new limited edition watch to celebrate its partnership with Goodwood.
