It’s neat when companies take on old adages. For instance, the James Brand Brenton Pen is out to prove the saying that the pen is mightier than the sword. Of course, the meaning of the statement is that the words produced using a pen have a more powerful effect at persuading people than do the threats enforced by the sword, but what the James Brand has created might just be physically stronger than a sword.
That’s not to say that the Brenton Pen isn’t going to write well. The Brenton Pen uses ink cartridges which can be loaded with the twist off access. The pen uses Schmidt 900 refillable ink cartridges, which come in a number of colors and nib widths.
The pen barrel is made of 304 stainless steel—the same steel used in kitchenware and in sinks. The grip pattern is laser etched. The pen has a 3/8 inch diameter and measures 5.5 inches in length. It also comes with lanyard loop and a clip, making it harder to lose.
This may not be the best choice if you’re challenged to a sword duel, but it could definitely hold up to the action. The plus side is that you can use the pen to craft a cutting repartee after the duel.
