The Weeknd Lists $31 Million LA Penthouse

After another stellar album release, Canadian pop star The Weeknd believes he’s now beyond vertical living. The 31-year-old has recently listed his Westwood penthouse for USD$22.5 million (AU$31 million) and has upgraded to a USD$70 million mega-mansion in Bel-Air. If he can land a buyer, it would eclipse actor Mathew Perry’s USD$21.6 million Century City penthouse sale last year.

The musician bought the highrise crib for USD$21 million in 2019, making it one of the most expensive recorded sales in Los Angeles County. Socialite Candy Spelling holds the record after purchasing a  15,555 square-foot abode in 2010 for USD$35 million in Century Tower. The Weeknd’s up for grabs home is half of the size of Spellings’s but has all the bells and whistles a millionaire could dream of.

Aptly named the “Mogul”, the 7,950 square foot pad commands an entire floor of Beverley West, a 22-story tower that houses 35 luxury condos overlooking the prestigious Los Angeles Country Club. Not only will residents have a stunning view of the golf course, but the home also offers sweeping views of the city and ocean via floor to ceiling windows and no less than four balconies.

Possessing direct elevator access, the glitzy apartment features four bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The primary suite has a large ensuite with two vanities, a jewel box steam shower and a bathtub. Other highlights include a chef’s kitchen, gym and specially designed entertainment bar with four 65-inch TV screens.

The condo boasts a minimal and masculine design pallette, blending stone floors and walnut wood panelling. As expected, the interior furnishings include high-end Italian pieces and hand-knotted rugs. Loaded with amenities, the building shares a saltwater pool, rooftop helipad and 24-hour concierge.

Not only selling property, but the three-time Grammy award winner also unveiled his fifth album, Dawn FM, on Friday. The 16 track release has an eclectic list of collaborations with Quincy Jones, Tyler the Creator, Lil Wayne and comedian Jim Carey, all contributing to the project. Controversy has surrounded the album, with several outlets suggesting The Weeknd’s rumoured new flame, Angelina Jolie, was a big part of his inspiration.
