Elliott Benitez remembers enjoying tortillas during many traditional Mexican home-cooked meals. He also remembers how long it took his mother to get fresh, hot tortillas on the kitchen table. The Rochester Institute of Technology graduate decided to invent something that would make it easier for anyone to enjoy warm tortillas quickly.
Benitez designed the Nuni Tortilla Toaster, which is a tortilla toaster that sits neatly on your countertop. This handy kitchen accessory can save lots of time during your next party or Cinco De Mayo celebration. Rather than toasting and hand flipping every single tortilla one at a time on a flat pan, you simply insert the tortillas into a specially-designed slot, and the Nuni does its magic. Although there are other tortilla toasters available, none of them are similar to the Nuni. Most only toast one tortilla at a time and the others are much more expensive than the Nuni Toaster.
With the Nuni Tortilla Toaster, you can toast up to six tortillas at one time. Both sides get toasted at once, and it only takes around 60 seconds or so to get warm, toasted tortillas. There are five different temperature settings, so you just choose the one that works best for you. The toaster shuts itself off automatically when it is finished. You only need to pull down a lever to release the tortillas.
The Nuni Tortilla Toaster can handle 6-inch tortillas. It toasts corn, wheat and flour tortillas. This toaster is pretty compact so it won’t take up much room on your counter. There are six different colours available, including Maize Yellow, Sangria Red, Jet Black and Aqua Blue.
