Summer (DEC-FEB)

During the summer months, you’ll find a number of great spots to pick fruit in New South Wales. The key for these warmer months is stone fruit, so expect to score some amazing peaches and nectarines through December, January and February.

Just an hour drive North-West of Sydney, Canoelands Orchard has plenty of fresh fruit on offer. There are blood plums, candy plums, white nectarines and yellow nectarines available for picking, as well as fresh raw honey that is available to buy all year round! The orchard is open from 9 am to 5 pm every day, except Christmas Day.

This quaint orchard has trees plentiful with white peaches, apricots and nectarines. Pick your own for just $4 per kilo and taste the freshness you pay for! Nestled away in the Bilpin region of NSW, this is the perfect summer day with the kids.

3. Bilpin Fruit Bowl

If you’re looking for a variety of summer crops, Bilpin Fruit Bowl has it all. Along with peaches, you can also find lettuce, Chinese cabbage zucchini and kale. Open from 10 am to 4 pm, you pay for what you pick. With so much on offer, make sure you leave time to explore one of the most plentiful orchards near Sydney.

Nestled in the hills just out of Picton, Cedar Creek Orchard has a total of around 23,00 trees. You will find apples, peaches, nectarines and persimmons amongst the sprawling grounds of this 4th generation orchard. While you’re visiting, don’t miss getting your hands on their ‘Cedar Creek Black Label Apple Juice’, 100% pure apple juice that is crushed and bottled on site.

5. Glenbernie Orchard

If you fancy a trip down south, Glenbernie is a 30km trip north of Wollongong, with plenty of peaches, plums and nectarines on offer. Open from mid-November, take part in a ‘Pick Your Own Experience’ tour which is a great family activity. This place gets busy, so make a booking if you prefer feeling prepared.

If strawberry picking is what you’ve always imagined a day out fruit picking would look like; Clyde River Berry Farm is your spot. Nothing tastes better than fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries at the height of the summer season. Make it part of a weekend away in nearby Ulladulla or Batemans Bay and come back home with hordes of berries to keep in the freezer!

7. Montrose Berry Farm

Located in the stunning Sutton Forest in NSW, Montrose Berry Farm has plenty of berry varieties ready to pick, like raspberries, loganberries, boysenberries and red currants. There is also a farm shop which sells berry pies, as well as a quaint little cottage if you wanted to have an overnight stay. This visit is a little pricier, with a $12.50 entry fee for adults. However, this includes 0.5kg of berries, so get picking!

Located in Young, NSW, the best spot for cherry-picking in NSW, the festival takes place on the first weekend of December. Back in action in 2021, the festival is kid-friendly, with plenty of fun competitions and of course, cherry-picking!
