The Moments that Mattered – Getty Images Year In Focus 2016 Collection

2016 has been a year of ups and downs, lefts and alt-rights, with the Getty Images team of award-winning photographers there to capture it all. Getty’s retrospective Year in Focus 2016 Collection is a stunning curation of the most defining images from the world of news, sport, entertainment, archive anniversaries and obituaries. Whether it was the political chaos surrounding the US election and Brexit, or the devastation and loss following the ongoing the refugee crisis, or the Syrian Civil War, or the racial riots in America, “the images captured are designed to connect people to the world through the power of pictures.”

Getty Images were also there for the moments that made the world smile and the moments the world celebrated. They were backstage at the Oscars and on the sidelines at the Rio Olympic Games. Through the archive collections, Getty Images celebrated the lives of music greats David Bowie and Prince as well as legendary icons like Muhammad Ali. Before we head into 2017, take some time to reminisce on the moments of 2016 that captivated the world.
